Christmas at howbury hall
This full day workshop, set within the magical setting of Howbury Hall and the Estate on December 10th, is a wonderful and unique experience for those wanting to get themselves in the Christmas spirit and learn how to create beautiful arrangements for their own home at the untamed edge of floral design.
It is no secret that Cissy is irrationally obsessed with Christmas wreaths (it is what brought her into floristry in the first place). But Cissy's approach to wreaths and festive floral design - like all her work - sits at the untamed edge and with the utmost respect for the wilder, more unusual elements found within the natural landscape at this time of year: statuesque evergreen foliage (so much more than just spruce), as well as the wispy bits, and dried bits, and twisting branches, and cones, and catkins, and berries… all the good stuff…
Together, during this one day workshop, we will forage from around the Estate before returning to the Hall to create wreaths (or branch based swags) and garlands to take home, as well as a collaborative tablescape (around which we enjoy a delicious festive meal) and a large, tumbling mantelpiece installation.
All materials, as well as all refreshments and a seasonal festive lunch, will be included.
All materials are responsibly sourced locally with respect for the length of time statuesque conifers take to produce their branches, and need for wildlife to have access to limited food sources during the winter months.
Your wreaths/swags and garlands will be yours to take home to dress your own house for Christmas. (Any garland made at the workshop will last well for Christmas if they are stored outside, preferably on a lawn until you’re ready to use them).
Address: The School of Sustainable Floristry, Howbury Hall Farm, Howbury Hall, Bedford, MK41 0JB
